Saffy groaned rather louder than she had intended. She was still so young and not yet a professional at hiding her feelings. However, it had been more than a few months before she'd spoken to another cat. Saffron was quite shy and timid. And, although she would never admit it, she was terribly fragile.
In the middle of the field she promptly collapsed and began to flex her sore paw. She'd been limping since the morning when an adder had bitten her sharply. It stung quite badly and her leg was now two times its usual size. She started to lick it, franticly trying to cool the burning sensation...

Twenty minutes later the leg was still one hundred degrees too hot, but the pain had numbed and Saffron staggered to her feet. She winced slightly but managed to walk a few paces.
"Stupid snakes," she mumbled. She often spoke to herself. Besides, she reasoned, Who else can I trust? Saffy hadn't eaten for just over a day, and her stomach rumbled to remind her of this fact. "Stupid food!" she grumbled. The small, lonely cat had very strong opinions. One of which was that food was 'stupid' and if you didn't need to eata it to surive, she wouldn't bother!

So, five moments later she found herself crouched reluctantly behind the long grass. In front of her she knew there was a plump rabbit.
Making not an inkling of a sound, she prepared herself to leap, and a second later she had the struggling creature between her paws. Poor thing, she thought to herself, before she swiftly drained its life blood from its heart.

Nothing was left save a few tiny bones. Saffron sighed, now feeling utterly alone and sad. It was not often that she felt alone because she didn't really like the company of others. But, for soem reason, she suddenly felt like she wanted someone with her.
Someone to talk to. Someone to listen to. Someone to confide in. A brother. A sister. A mother. A father. A friend. She would never have have anyone, that she remained certain of.
However, soemthing buzzed in the back of her mind. Her mother's dying words which had been so hard to understand. Darkpelt had made no sense as the life left her eyes, but Saffy had heard a few words perfectly clearly: 'I need to tell you about your sibling.' A gaggle of nonsence most likely, but the hope remained.
Saffy rose to her feet. Her leg still throbbed but not so much. She looked around, picked a direction, and set off through the long grass.
